5 link building tips

,
All blog and website owners need good incoming links for link popularity among the search engines. Anyone who has spent any time on link building knows that seeking quality link partners is very time consuming, yet every website or blog must have quality incoming links for the best rankings.

Here are 5 link building tips I have found useful in my own link building strategies.

1. When seeking link partners or new directories to submit your links to, do not forget about other pages within your blog or site. If you have a newsletter page make sure you submit that page to newsletter directories or sites that only cater to newsletters. Quality incoming links will count for those pages as well.

Ezine Hub and Newsletter Access are two that have a page rank of at least 6.

2. Press releases are picked up by popular sites and offer a link back! Not to mention getting your website or blog in front of many news reporters, bloggers, and the media! If you have never published a news release, check out my press release help for some tips on using the power of the press release.

3. Stay away from link farms. When seeking your linking partners, always look at their links page. Make sure they are not script ran and also look at how many links are there. If there link page looks like an unorganized mess with 100’s of links, do not waste your time. Never place a link on your site solely for the purpose of trading link popularity, because this will actually hurt your rankings.

4. Link to fellow bloggers or experts within your niche. Remember, they need to have a good page rank or “authority”. In turn many of them will offer a link back to your blog or site. If not, it is ok, as you will build your links with quality. I do not mean link to 100 of them, maybe 5 or so. Most bloggers check stats often, so give them a few weeks to reply to your link or maybe even add your link. It is ok for you to link to other quality sites without a link back, however a link back is always appreciated.

5. Guest Post on Blogs. Offering guest posts for blogs is a great way to get relevant links. Even if you are not a seasoned writer or even if you do not have a blog yourself. To do this all you need is to be able to create useful content.

Lets say you have a site that sells “home decor”. Finding a blog that is about “decorating” and offering a guest post would work very well. The blogger would get a break and you would get an incoming link plus the traffic from anyone reading that post. All you have to do is create a nice article, and submit it to the blog owner asking of they are accepting guest bloggers. Most blogs do accept them, or they save all guest post for days when the blogger has writers block.

When you email the blog owner, attach a copy of the guest post and let the blogger know if they are willing to use it, the content will be exclusive to them only. (that way they know 10 other blogs will not have the same content) Ask for a reply with say 14 days and not that if you do not hear back within 14 days you will assume they are not interested and you will submit the content to another blog.

All of the above have worked well for me, especially the press release for quick incoming links of value.

If you feel like you just do not have the time for your SEO efforts or you are getting no where fast with your link building, you can always hire a link building service company and let them do the work for you. Companies such as TextLinkBrokers.com, which is a professional link building company that offers link services for website owners.

Boosting Search engine rankings with SEO

,
If you have a blog and you are ready to start increasing traffic to your site, you need to start focusing on search engine optimization.

Make sure to develop your website with proper search engine optimization techniques. Any cheats will be caught and your blog will be penalized.

Here are a few good on-page optimization SEO tips.

Properly formatted Meta Tags - Your sites meta tags, including your title tag, description tag, and keywords tag, are important for classifying your website and communicating to the major search engines the content of each page. Although meta tags are not as important as they once were, they are used for many purposes including how your listing appears in search engine results

Focus on keyword density - If you are trying to optimize your site for a keyword or key phrase, you need to concentrate on your keyword density. Keyword density is the percentage of your keywords on a particular web page. Keyword density should range between 2 and 8%. To determine your keyword density on a given page, divide the number of times your keyword appears by the total word count of the respective page.

Good page formatting - Search engines seem to love emphasis on keywords. You can identify your keywords with tags such as title tags, h1, h2, etc., and properly formatted text. Using bold, italicize, and underline in your keywords at least once on the page you are trying to optimize will help as well.

Be persistent- By applying SEO (search engine optimization) techniques on a regular basis, you will improve your search engine placements.

Keywords to go for

,
You are not going to rank well on the major search engines for every potential keyword in your industry. There are millions of sites on the web all competing for quality search rankings. So, with keyword optimization, it is better to focus on quality as opposed to quanity.

You need to select a few key words which you think you can rank well in. These are the keywords that you are going to go for. Throughout your webpages, you should reference these keywords so that your pages have a good keyword density in regards to these keywords. Moreover, when other sites link to you, you should have the anchor text be these keywords to greater your positioning for this key word. You need to make these few keywords a focus of both your site content and your link backs. Also, your title and meta tags should focus on these keywords as well.

By going for a few keywords, you will give yourself a shot at getting good rankings. On the other hand, if you go for hundreds of key words, you may not get quality rankings for any of them.
